Purple definitely, because to me it looks most soul-searching, and I'm more of an inward traveler. Emotionally, too, it gives me an anchor but also has a touch of magic. Purple gives me a sense of pure power in these very insecure times.

What is beauty according to you?

Beauty is not superficial and can never be destroyed because it’s the secret person of the heart, the pleasant, sincere and well meaning one that truly matters. Beauty cannot die with time, it lives on. To me, beauty is in your heart. It’s the combination of qualities that make something pleasing and impressive to look at, listen to, touch, smell, or taste. For some, it is indeed attractive physical features. I do not discredit one and use the other. They work together, it must be coupled with a deeper beauty

Who inspires you and why?

Happiness Magesse is my inspiration. I admire how self driven she is and the work that she has set up to help out others. She has not forgotten where she is from, I like how her mission is providing assistance to charitable organizations whose work is specifically focused in Tanzania especially causes that benefit women, children, and primary education. Her long-term plan is to build schools for children in rural areas as she believes a good education is a key to life. 

When I think of what she has accomplished it gives me hope as I am now starting off my journey the same way she did.

What is beauty according to you?

In my opinion, beauty is not to be judged by one's outer appearance but by one's heart. It's a bit difficult to tell since we are born as inventors and truth seekers and as such cannot read hearts. However, one's inner self presumably as displayed to others is where true beauty lies. Beauty should take on the definition more personality wise, yet, we all tend to look more to the "skin deep" area.

I am not going to say about any great personalities, great freedom fighters etc. I am very much inspired by my mother because she is hard worker, she always thinks in a positive manner and she always thinks about her family and she supports everyone in my family and whatever she knows she teaches to everyone and she is very respectful. She always says to me that never hurt anyone in your life, love everyone. She always says do not go in a wrong path choose right path. And she always says that be self confident in every task. So my mother is my great inspiration.

Reading and writing go hand-in-hand as far as I'm concerned. I love reading as an extension of my writing. To see how other writers put words together, to witness the wisdom that other writers have to offer, to learn new ways of saying the same old thing is empowering to me. So if I had 30 minutes in a day whereby I could do whatever I wanted I would use them to read and write.

What is the one thing that sets a woman apart from a man?

Kwangu mimi ninaona kitu ambacho kinamtofautisha mwanamke na mwanaume ni kazi. Kazi anazozifanya mwanamke sio kila mwanaume anawezi kufanya, mfano kumtunza mototo mpaka anakua mtu mzima. Pia mwanamke anapenda jamii na anaweza kustaimili watu wote na mambo mengi yanayomzunguka.

If I had 30 minutes to do anything of my choice, I would put on the TV and watch cartoons! I’m still a big kid at heart really. My days are very hectic; there is Miss Kinondoni, Miss Sinza, Miss Tanzania, and Law School. Though I am constantly on the go, I’ve had to learn to balance everything nicely. So 30 minutes to just relax and forget the world outside whilst watching my favorite cartoon, SpongeBob, sounds like heaven!

How do you define beauty?

I believe beauty is subjective. Beauty to me is confidence, uniqueness, pride, kindness, positivity. Beauty can be found everywhere if you are open to seeing it. Size 0 or size 30, beauty is inside us all. We just need to accept ourselves and let the awesomeness inside shine through, I know that is easier said than done. We need to stop with the negative comments we make into the mirror and start with positive affirmations.
